Dissertation House

Our TADA Winter Challenge is over but if you have not gotten into the habit of posting your goals and accomplishments please continue to post them here.

Use this blog to help you finish your degree.

This Blog is created for those who have previously participated in the Dissertation House and or TADA Thesis and Dissertation Accomplished Challenges or for those who want the public/weekly accountability. If you post, I will publish.

Here's How to begin

1. Setting up your FREE Google account at www.gmail.com
2. Logging in to the blog
3. Clicking on "Comments" below and posting the answers to these questions:

* What are you working on?

Your proposal? Your Prelims?/Qualifying Exam? Dissertation Methodology? Problem statement? literature review?...
* How much time will you spend daily working on it?
* Tell us how much progress you are making, or problems you are having.
* At the end of everyday plan what you want to accomplish the following day

I am still working on getting a separate blog for just for Dissertation House but in the meantime, keep working and finish your degree.

    Thanks Peggy for posting that update. March 11, 2009 is less than 6 days away; keep up the good work.

    Hey Shelly
    I have not seen or heard from you in a while. Your April 07, 2009 date is creeping up on you are you still on schedule?

    Dawn what's up we missed you at DH Rocky Gap.

    Mengs I saw you yesterday...I know your schedule is tight but where is my post?

    To everyone who reads this blog

    Even if you have not done anything else all week, let it(guilt)go. Today is a new day and another opportunity to get it right or even almost right.

    If you need a reminder that you should be working on your proposal or dissertation this is your friendly reminder.

    * Do you have 15 minutes to spare to work on your dissertation?

    * Can you put off reading your emails 2X a day in the morning and later on at night
    * Can you skip your FACEBook entry today

    What are your goals for today? Are they measurable task that can be crossed off at the end of the day? You can do something, what is it going to be?

    Stay faithful to the process: Perhaps the goal can be as simple as:

    * Writing 1 page today, 1 paragraph?
    * Creating 1 outline today
    * Can you write your abstract
    * Can you create your cover page, dedication page
    * Can you work on your bibliography? Just gather all of your journal article or books and enter them while you are watching TV
    * Can you code some data?
    * Can you read TADA's newsletter on writing a proposal and work on 1 of the 13 ingredients?
    * Can you work on the Statement of the Problem and not worry about the rest of the proposal?
    * Can you create 1 table or 1 figure ? or Can you make sure the are in sequential order in the text?

    If you want more tips and tools for time-management or just want to hear about others just like yourself you can sign-up for TADA's Monthly Newsletter (click on the link below).
