    Hello All:
I hope everyone is doing well. This has been one of the toughest semesters of my life. I've just been unbelievably tired of this whole process and just ready to go. The good news is that I am in the final stages of my dissertation and I'm scheduled to defend on May 4th.

I must share however, that I would not have gotten to this point without Dr. Carter's help. For the past few weeks, she has had to hold my hand as I painstakingly wrote each sentence and on some occasions, think for me. She has consistently come through for me and I honestly could not have finished this dissertation without her.

I strongly encourage each of you to visit her during her office hours and take all of her advice. She will get you through this dissertation.

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers!

    Hi Friends
I am Wanda and have been trying to exchange the ABD behind my name to PhD for what seems like the longest time. I am however committed to making great strides this summer with the help of friends and Dr Carter. I did just visit her office today and feel encouraged that great strides in a few months is not out of the question.

One of my problems is disorganization. I am going to clear away my household bills and mail (what a mountain) tonite so that first thing in the morning I can start on the list Dr Carter helped me create.

Janet, May God be with you on Monday. I am sure you will do well.

Well done for doing what you said you were going to do. Post on the blog. Sometimes just doing that can start the momentum going.

School is almost over so I have grading and lots of work to do this weekend.

    Congrats to Dr. Awokoya

I strongly recommend that you take a couple of days to rest and celebrate!!!! Most people pass their defense with some kind of changes/edits (be it major or minor) to make. When you are read to address these changes, take a look at my TA-DA newsletter on what to do after the defense: Why? Because a good dissertation is a DONE dissertation.

    Dear all:
I have successfully defended my Ph.D. Dissertation and will be graduating this May 2009. I would like to thank Dr. Wendy Carter, for the invaluable assistance during the writing process. I was a recipient of PROMISE’s Dissertation House @ UMBC in summer 2007. This is a great opportunity to express my thanks and respect to PROMISE and Dr. Renetta Tull for organizing such a wonderful event. Thank you all!

    Just quickly checking-in...
    - completed my major goals for the week (YAY!)
    - bummed that I got sick again (stocked up on more tissue)
    - set new goals for next week
    - a little anxious about having to start a 'new' section in my current chapter (hopefully this won't cause any major stalling issues for me and that I set reasonable goals given this transition point)
